Born on March 28, 1977 in Riverside, California Allen Cunningham is one of the most successful professional players in the world. Prior to becoming a pro poker player, Cunningham attended UCLA and studied civil engineering. He dropped out of
college in order to play professional poker. His career in poker began when he turned at 18 and began playing in Native American Indian casinos in the U.S.
He really began to play poker seriously in 1998; however, it was not until the following year that he got his big break. In 1999 he won six major tournaments among which was the quite prestigious Legends of Poker. It was during this time that he decided to drop out of college and pursue professional poker.
Today, Cunningham plays online poker at Full Tilt Poker exclusively. At one time he served as a Full Tilt sponsored pro. In 2006 he became a member of Team Full Tilt.
He earned the title 2005 ESPN/Toyota Player of the Year in 2005 and actually came quite close to winning the title once again the following year. Cunningham has also been voted as Best all Around Player Under 35 by his fellow professional poker players.
The single largest tournament payout for Cunningham was the 2006 World Series of Poker. In that tournament he finished in fourth place in the Main Event for a total payout of $3,628,513.
Cunningham ranks among a very short list of people who have brought home World Series of Poker Bracelets in three consecutive years. Cunningham won his fifth bracelet in 2007. Other players who have accomplished this feat include Gary Berland, Doyle Brunson, Johnny Moss and Erik Seidel.
Cunningham’s other successes include winning the $300,000 ‘Mega Match’ on Poker After Dark. At the current time, Cunningham’s total live tournament payouts are in excess of $9,000,0000. Cunningham currently lives in Las Vegas.
