Full Tilt Planet Hand Histories:
Born in Reno Nevada it seemed almost destined that one day Jennifer Harman would become a professional poker player. She first began playing poker when she was just eight years old and was instructed in the game by her father. Later, the decision to teach her how to play poker would come between the two when they became estranged after she made the decision to become a professional poker player.
As a teen Harman obtained a fake I.D. and used it to gain entrance into poker rooms and casinos. This proved to be a learning period for Harman as she began to lose for the first time. This was also a time for her to hone her skills; however.
Harman graduated from the University of Nevada-Reno with a degree in biology; however, she made the decision to move to L.A. and for almost a week tended bar before she made the decision to quit and begin playing poker as a pro at the age of 21. She began with $50 and $100 limits; however, she would soon move on to much higher games.
In 2000 Harman won her first World Series of Poker. Prior to that event, Harman had never played the No Limit Deuce to Seven Lowball game that she won. Her only exposure to the game was a five minute tutoring lesson which she received from Howard Lederer just before the game. Harman went on to win her second bracelet in 2002; becoming the only woman to hold two WSOP bracelets in open events.
In 2004, Harman was forced to step away from her career for a year in order to have a second kidney transplant. Harman had suffered from kidney problems since she was a child. She has since returned to the circuit and finished quite well in several events including 4th place at the World Poker Tour Five-Diamond World Poker Classic, 5th place at the Professional Poker Tour and 2nd place in the World Series of Poker Circuit Championship Event.
Harman has appeared on High Stakes Poker, the GSN series as well as Poker After Dark on NBC. Harman has also finished as a runner-up in the first World Series of Poker event to be held in a location other than Las Vegas. Today Harman is a member of the Full Tilt Poker team.
Harman is also the only woman who plays regularly in the high stakes cash game known as the Big Game at the Bellagio.
Harman’s husband, stylist Marco Traniello, has also become a professional poker player.
